Panasonic reverse-cycle splits are a common choice for bedrooms and living areas in Sydney. The electrical connection is a separate job from mounting the unit, and it needs a licensed electrician. We wire Panasonic systems across the Inner West.
Ring 0421 772 661 for a quote. A photo of your switchboard and the unit's model name are a good start.
When a Panasonic air conditioner goes in, the refrigeration technician mounts the head and the outdoor unit, links them with pipework and handles the refrigerant under their ARC licence. Someone still has to bring power to it safely, and that's where we come in.
Our job is the circuit from your switchboard, the protection on that circuit, the isolator at the outdoor unit, and testing it all before the system is switched on. We can work directly with your air conditioning installer so both sides line up.
Blue Link Electrical is based in Hurlstone Park and holds NSW Contractor Licence 332956C. Many of the homes we work in are older, with switchboards that need a close look before a new load is added.
Panasonic's Australian air conditioning range is built mainly around reverse-cycle wall splits in a range of capacities, with multi-split and ducted options as well. A small split for a study needs much less from your switchboard than a large unit cooling an open-plan kitchen and living space, so we look at the actual unit rather than the badge.
Inverter air conditioners like Panasonic's ramp up gradually, which is easier on the supply than older fixed-speed units. They still need a properly sized circuit, though. We take the supply requirements and recommended protection from the installation manual and size the cable for the distance involved.
Cable and breaker are chosen from the unit's documented supply requirements and the run length. See our dedicated circuit guide.
Next to the outdoor unit and rated for outdoor use, so servicing can be done safely.
RCD protection on the circuit, commonly an RCBO so an air conditioner fault doesn't cut power to the rest of the house.
A free space for the new device, or a board upgrade where an old fuse board has none.
Hidden where the building allows; in conduit and properly fixed where it has to run on the outside.
1. Assess. We get the Panasonic model and manual, see where the units are going, and check the switchboard and supply.
2. Install the circuit. New cable from the board, new protective device, and an isolator position agreed with your installer.
3. Connect. Once the units are up, we connect the supply and fit the isolator. The technician completes the refrigeration side and runs the system.
4. Test. We test to AS/NZS 3000 and issue a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work.
Often moisture or a loose termination; sometimes an internal unit fault. We test the electrical side, and unit faults are referred to Panasonic's service network.
UV breaks down isolator housings over time. Once they crack, rain gets in. Replacement is quick and cheap compared with chasing trips.
Plugging a fixed system into a shared circuit leads to overloads. Moving it to its own circuit solves it.
Usually water in the isolator or a damaged cable outdoors. See power tripping when it rains.
Fixed split systems are normally hard-wired on their own circuit with an isolator at the outdoor unit. The installation manual for your model will say what's required.
No. An ARC-licensed refrigeration technician installs the units and handles refrigerant. We do the electrical connection.
It depends on what else you run. We check your main supply and existing loads before adding a circuit.
We test the circuit and isolator first. If they're fine, the fault is in the unit and goes to the manufacturer's service network.
Yes. NSW Electrical Contractor Licence 332956C, fully insured, and we issue a Certificate of Compliance.
