Bought a Mitsubishi Electric split or ducted system? Before it can run, it needs a circuit sized to the unit, an isolator at the outdoor condenser and protection at the switchboard. We handle that part, working with whoever installs the unit.
Ring 0421 772 661 to book or ask a question. Send the model name and a switchboard photo and we can usually quote without a visit.
Mitsubishi Electric air conditioners are a familiar sight on Sydney walls and roofs. Installing one is a two-trade job: a refrigeration technician fits the indoor and outdoor units, connects the copper pipework and charges the system, while an electrician provides the power and makes it safe to isolate.
We stay strictly on the electrical side. Refrigerant handling in Australia needs an ARC licence, and we leave it to the air conditioning installer you've chosen. What we bring is the circuit, the protection, the isolator and the compliance paperwork, timed so your installer isn't left waiting for power.
Blue Link Electrical is based in Hurlstone Park and holds NSW Contractor Licence 332956C. We connect air conditioners in houses, terraces and apartments throughout the Inner West and further afield in Sydney.
Mitsubishi Electric is a Japanese company, and its Australian range spans compact wall splits for bedrooms, larger splits for open-plan living areas, multi-head systems and ducted units. A small bedroom split and a whole-of-house ducted system are very different electrical loads, so the brand name on its own tells us little about what the circuit needs.
The installation manual is the reference. It lists the power supply, the recommended breaker and which unit the supply connects to. We use that, plus the distance from your switchboard, to choose cable and protection. If you're replacing an older unit, we also check whether the existing circuit is still suitable rather than assuming it can be reused.
A fixed system normally runs on a dedicated circuit so it isn't competing with kettles and heaters. See do you need a dedicated circuit?
A weatherproof isolating switch within reach of the outdoor unit, so it can be switched off for maintenance.
Long runs from a front switchboard to a rear courtyard condenser may need heavier cable to keep voltage drop in check.
The circuit needs safety switch protection. An RCBO keeps an air conditioner fault from affecting other circuits. Our RCD vs RCBO guide explains the difference.
We check the main switch and supply can carry the new load with your oven, hot water and other big appliances.
1. Check the paperwork. We look at the Mitsubishi Electric model and its manual, agree the unit positions with your installer, and inspect the switchboard.
2. Run the circuit. Cable goes from the board to the outdoor unit location by the neatest practical route, and the new protective device is fitted in the board.
3. Isolate and connect. We mount the outdoor isolator, seal the entries properly and terminate the supply. The technician then finishes the refrigeration side and starts the system.
4. Test and hand over. Insulation resistance, polarity and safety switch operation are tested to AS/NZS 3000, and you receive a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work.
We check protection rating, connections and insulation. If the circuit tests clean, the fault is likely in the unit and goes to Mitsubishi Electric's service network.
Outdoor isolators take a beating from Sydney sun. Once covers crack, water gets in and the safety switch trips, often after rain.
A replacement unit may need more than the old one did. Reusing the old circuit without checking can lead to trips or overheating.
Ceramic fuse boards can't easily take modern protection. A switchboard upgrade may come first.
An ARC-licensed refrigeration technician mounts the units and handles pipework and refrigerant. We provide the electrical connection, isolator and testing.
Sometimes. We compare the old circuit with what the new unit's manual asks for and check the condition of the cable and isolator before reusing anything.
So the technician can safely switch it off at the unit for servicing, without relying on someone at the switchboard.
