Blue Link Electrical Services is run by Matt, a licensed electrician (NSW licence 332956C) in business since 2016 and based in Hurlstone Park. Most of our work is within a short drive of home: Marrickville, Newtown, Leichhardt, Ashfield, Balmain and the suburbs in between. We still take jobs across Sydney, but this is the part of the city we know street by street.
Working close to base matters for the kind of jobs people call about. Marrickville is the region's biggest suburb, with about 26,500 residents in 2021 and a mix of Federation houses, interwar flats and newer apartments near the station.

Much of the housing here was built long before today's wiring rules, then renovated in stages. That history shapes most of the jobs we see.
Common in Newtown, Enmore, Glebe, Annandale and Balmain. We often find old rubber-insulated or early PVC cable, ceramic fuses and a board with one safety switch or none. Narrow halls, shared walls and low roof spaces make cable routes harder, so planning matters before any walls are opened.
Found through Haberfield, Hurlstone Park, Croydon Park and Earlwood. These homes usually have more room under the floor and in the roof, which makes rewiring and new circuits easier, but many still have small switchboards that were never sized for air conditioning, induction cooking or an EV.
From older walk-up blocks in Ashfield and Dulwich Hill to warehouse conversions in Marrickville and new towers near Camperdown. Work inside a unit is usually simple; anything touching common property, the main switchroom or fire systems needs the owners corporation's approval first.
Replacing old fuse boards with circuit breakers and safety switches (RCDs), often before a renovation or when adding air conditioning. We also upgrade commercial and three-phase switchboards for shops, offices, restaurants and cafes, and warehouses. New and altered circuits need RCD protection under the wiring rules, AS/NZS 3000.
Full or partial rewires where old cable is brittle or unsafe. We test first, so you only replace what needs replacing, and we work around original ceilings, cornices and joinery where we can.
Induction cooktops, heat pump hot water and split systems add load. We check the switchboard, the supply and the existing circuits first, so you know what work is needed before you buy appliances.
With so many homes rented, we do a lot of smoke alarm work, safety checks and repairs between tenancies. NSW rental rules require landlords to keep smoke alarms in working order and check them each year.
Extra power points for kitchens and home offices, LED downlights, outdoor lights and fans. In terraces with limited roof space we plan cable runs carefully to avoid unnecessary patching.
Many terraces have no driveway, so home charging depends on off-street parking. Where there is a garage or a hardstand, we check whether the switchboard and supply can take a dedicated charger circuit.

Not always. If the house still has rubber-insulated cable or ceramic fuses, a rewire is worth discussing. Otherwise, testing the existing circuits may show that a switchboard upgrade and some targeted work is enough.
Yes, inside your unit. Work on common property, the main switchroom or shared services needs approval from the owners corporation or strata manager first.
Yes. For electrical work that needs one, we test the work when it is finished and issue a NSW Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work (CCEW).
