Kingsford is centred on the Nine Ways roundabout on Anzac Parade, where the L3 light rail finishes outside Juniors Kingsford and the restaurants stay busy late. UNSW sits just to the north, Gardeners Road marks the edge towards Daceyville and Rosebery, and the side streets off Anzac Parade are lined with 1920s to 1940s brick bungalows. Many of those blocks now hold modern duplexes, while older walk-up flats and student housing fill the streets closest to the university.

The classic Kingsford bungalow has its meter and fuses mounted on the front verandah or side wall, sometimes on old panels that may contain asbestos. Extensions have usually been tacked onto the original circuits, so one breaker can feed half the house. We test what is there, then recommend a switchboard upgrade with safety switches on every circuit and enough capacity for the way people live now. If you are adding a large load, we look at whether single-phase is still enough or whether three-phase power makes sense.
