Reolink makes PoE cameras, Wi-Fi cameras and battery-powered cameras, so an offline camera can mean a flat battery, a weak Wi-Fi signal or a lost PoE supply. Knowing which type you have narrows it down quickly.
Run through the checks below. If it's still offline, call 0421 772 661 and we'll test the power and cabling to the camera.
If there's a burning smell, a hot plugpack, melted insulation or water in any outdoor power point or junction box, don't touch it. Turn off at the main switch only if it's safe to do so, and call us. Call 000 if there is fire or injury.
Battery cameras and their solar panels are often mounted high. Don't work off a ladder on your own, and never open a camera housing or power supply.
Look at the battery level in the Reolink app. Cold weather, lots of motion and a shaded solar panel can drain a battery camera faster than expected.
Make sure the recorder or PoE switch is powered on at the outlet and its port lights are showing for that camera.
Check whether the camera's signal strength has dropped in the app. A new router, a moved router or extra walls between the two can push a camera out of range.
Turn off the recorder, PoE switch or the camera's plugpack at the wall, wait briefly, and switch back on. Give it a few minutes to reconnect.
If the internet is down, the app will show everything offline even though local recording may continue. Check the modem, and Ausgrid's outage information for power.
Battery and solar issues. A battery camera with a solar panel facing the wrong way, or sitting under a tree, may not keep up over winter. That's a placement issue rather than an electrical fault, though a wired camera is often the long-term answer.
Lost PoE power or a damaged cable. For wired Reolink cameras, the usual suspects are a failed port, an overloaded PoE switch, or a cable damaged in the roof or along a fence. Water in an unsealed connector is common on older installs.
Wi-Fi coverage. Double brick, rendered walls and long backyards all weaken the signal. If a Wi-Fi camera keeps dropping, a cabled connection or improved network coverage is a more reliable fix than repeated restarts.
Device or app faults. Once power and connection are confirmed good, a camera that still won't connect may be faulty or need re-adding in the app. That goes through Reolink's support or the place you bought it; we'll confirm the installation side first.
Call us if a PoE camera has no power with the recorder running, a camera drops out in wet weather, a battery camera never keeps its charge and you want it hardwired, or a cable has been damaged.
We test runs, re-terminate and weatherproof connectors, install cabling for cameras that were on battery or Wi-Fi, and make sure the recorder has a reliable power supply. Our Reolink installation page has more on setting these up properly.
Low battery is the usual reason, often because the solar panel isn't getting enough sun or the camera records a lot of motion.
Not every battery model can be hardwired. Often the better option is to replace it with a PoE camera and run a cable to it.
Check the recorder and switch have power. If they do, the camera, cable or port may have been damaged by a surge or water, which needs testing.
Cameras recording to a local recorder or SD card generally keep recording; you just can't view them remotely until the internet returns. Check your model's manual.
