Water through the ceiling, lights full of water, or a safety switch that trips every time it rains? We make storm-damaged electrics safe and fix them properly, across the Inner West.
Ring 0421 772 661.
If a powerline is down, stay well clear: at least 8 metres away. Call Ausgrid on 13 13 88, or 000 if anyone is in danger. Never touch a fallen line or anything it is touching.
For storm damage to the building itself, like a damaged roof or fallen tree, the NSW SES can help on 132 500.
If water is coming through a light fitting, ceiling or near the switchboard, turn the power off at the main switch if you can do it safely and stay out of wet areas. Then call us.
Water and electricity: switch off and keep clear.
Water getting into outdoor power points, lights or cabling.
A storm-related fault on one circuit.
Cracked fittings or covers letting water in.
Appliances, chargers or the switchboard damaged by a surge.
If the overhead service line is damaged, it must be repaired by Ausgrid or an accredited Level 2 electrician.
1. Call 0421 772 661. Tell us what is wet or damaged and we will talk you through keeping safe.
2. Make safe. We isolate damaged circuits so the rest of the house can stay on where possible.
3. Dry out and test. Wet fittings and cabling are tested once dry. Anything that is damaged is replaced, not just switched back on.
4. Report for your insurer. We can provide a written report of what was damaged and what we did, to help with your claim.
Sydney's storm season runs through the warmer months. A few things reduce the risk: weatherproof covers on outdoor power points, properly sealed outdoor lights, surge protection at the switchboard, and safety switches on every circuit.
