Still on old ceramic fuses, or a board that trips when the oven and air con run together? We upgrade switchboards in terraces, semis, cottages and units right across the Inner West.
Ring 0421 772 661 for a written quote.
Many Inner West homes were built long before air conditioning, induction cooktops, EV chargers or solar. The original switchboard was never designed for that load, and it is often still running rewireable ceramic fuses and only one or two safety switches, or none.
An upgrade replaces the old fuses with modern circuit breakers, adds safety switches (RCDs) to protect your circuits, and gives you room to add new circuits safely.
Our guide to replacing a ceramic fuse switchboard explains the difference in more detail.
Rewireable fuses offer far less protection than modern circuit breakers.
Or only one protecting the whole house.
Oven, kettle and air con together shouldn't knock the power out.
Any heat or burning smell at the board needs checking now.
Common in older homes. Don't drill or disturb it.
Usually needs space and capacity your old board doesn't have.
1. Inspection and written quote. We look at the board, the circuits and what you want to run, then quote in writing.
2. New board. Circuit breakers and safety switches sized for your home, with each circuit clearly labelled.
3. Testing. Every circuit is tested to AS/NZS 3000 before we hand over.
4. Paperwork. A Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work is issued for the job.

Every board is different: the number of circuits, whether there is asbestos, whether the meter needs to move, and what you want to add all change the price. We will give you a written quote before any work starts.

Not always by law, but rewireable fuses offer much less protection than circuit breakers and safety switches. If you are renovating, adding circuits or selling, an upgrade is usually recommended.
Most homes are done within a day, with the power off for part of it. We will tell you how long when we quote.
Many older Inner West homes have an asbestos backing board. We will tell you if we see it and explain how it will be handled safely.
