NHP is an Australian-owned electrical supplier with deep roots in commercial and industrial switchgear, and its breakers and RCBOs are also used in houses. We install NHP switchboards for homes, shops and small offices across the Inner West and Sydney.
Ring 0421 772 661 for a written quote. Tell us whether it's a house, a unit or a commercial tenancy, as the approach differs.
NHP is a name you'll often see in commercial switchrooms, factories and shop distribution boards. That heritage is why some homeowners and business owners specifically ask for it: they want switchgear from a supplier that's used to heavier-duty work.
In practice, an NHP board in a house does the same job as any other: it splits supply into circuits and protects them with breakers and safety switches. Where NHP gear really comes into its own is in small commercial fit-outs, three-phase supplies and mixed-use properties such as a shop with a flat above, where the board has to handle bigger loads and more circuits.
Blue Link Electrical is a licensed electrician based in Hurlstone Park (NSW Contractor Licence 332956C). We handle household and small commercial switchboard work, from design and installation through to testing and the CCEW.
For a house, the choice is mostly about enclosure size and whether each circuit gets an RCBO. For a commercial space, we also look at the incoming supply, whether it's single or three-phase, the total load, discrimination between upstream and downstream protection, and whether the tenancy needs a separate distribution board from the main switchboard.
NHP's range is broad and covers equipment well beyond what a typical home needs, so the right parts depend on the job. We specify compatible components for your board and supply, and list them in the quote. If your building's main switchboard is already NHP, keeping a tenancy board in the same family can make maintenance simpler.
We confirm the supply type first. Three-phase boards need balanced loads across phases and suitable multi-pole protection.
Commercial kitchens, compressors and heavy appliances change the sizing. We tally the loads before choosing the main switch and enclosure.
Final circuits in homes and many workplaces need RCD protection. We plan RCDs or RCBOs to suit how the space is used.
Commercial boards often sit in shared corridors or plant rooms. We check access, clearances and whether the enclosure needs to be lockable.
For a business, a change-over can be scheduled outside trading hours to keep disruption down.
1. Site visit. We look at the existing board, the supply, the loads and the building. For tenancies we also check what the landlord or strata requires.
2. Design and quote. A written quote listing the enclosure, main switch, circuit protection and any sub-boards, with a proposed time for the change-over.
3. Install and test. The new NHP board is fitted and circuits reconnected and labelled. Every circuit is tested and every safety switch trip-tested before re-energising.
4. Hand-over. You get a CCEW and a clear circuit schedule. Our three-phase switchboard in Ashfield shows the kind of supply work we do.
Extra equipment added over years without upgrading the board. Breakers trip under peak load, or cables run hot.
Too much on one phase causes trips and voltage issues. Rebalancing circuits across phases is often part of the upgrade.
Older commercial boards may have little or no safety switch coverage. We add it and fix the faults it uncovers.
Common in shops that have changed hands. We trace and label circuits so staff can isolate safely.
No. NHP equipment suits homes as well, although it's especially common in commercial and industrial work.
Usually yes. We'll agree a time that limits disruption and confirm it in the quote.
Yes. We install and upgrade three-phase switchboards for homes and small commercial properties.
In strata and commercial buildings, the main board may be the owners' corporation's or landlord's responsibility. We'll tell you what's in scope before we start.
No. We're a licensed electrician (NSW 332956C) who installs NHP equipment as part of our work. We're not affiliated with NHP.
