ABB is a global engineering company whose low-voltage switchgear is used in homes, commercial buildings and industry worldwide. We install ABB switchboards, breakers, RCBOs and surge protection across the Inner West and Sydney.
Ring 0421 772 661 for a written quote, or send photos of your board and what you're planning to add.
When someone asks for an ABB board, it's usually for one of three reasons: an architect or builder has specified it, the existing board is already ABB and they want to stay consistent, or they're planning solar, a battery or EV charging and like having the whole electrical setup from one large manufacturer.
Whatever the brand on the front, a modern switchboard has the same jobs. It must protect each circuit against overload, protect people with safety switches, and be laid out so faults can be found and isolated quickly. ABB makes the enclosures and modular devices to do that, and a well-built ABB board is a solid long-term choice.
Blue Link Electrical is a licensed electrician based in Hurlstone Park, NSW Contractor Licence 332956C. We look after design, installation, testing and the Certificate of Compliance, for houses and small commercial properties.
Many switchboard upgrades now happen because something new is coming: rooftop solar, a home battery, an EV charger, a heat pump or an induction cooktop. Each one needs its own circuit and protection, and some need space for isolators or monitoring equipment. Planning an ABB board with those spaces reserved avoids another upgrade in two years.
ABB's catalogue is large and changes over time, so we don't promise particular parts before seeing your job. We'll specify compatible enclosures and devices for your supply and loads. If a designer has already specified ABB parts, send us the schedule and we'll quote to it, flagging anything that doesn't suit the site.
List what you might add: solar, battery, EV charger, air conditioning. We size the board and main switch to suit. See solar and battery ready.
Spare module spaces are cheap at install time and expensive later. We leave room for growth.
RCDs or RCBOs on final circuits, chosen to match how your home or business uses power.
A surge protection device can be added in the board to reduce damage from voltage spikes. Its value depends on what you're protecting.
We test the main earth and bonding. A new board is only as safe as its earth connection.
1. Assessment. We check the existing board, consumer mains, earth and meter position, and talk through future plans.
2. Quote. A written quote detailing the enclosure, protection on each circuit and any surge protection or spare capacity.
3. Installation. Supply isolated, old board removed, ABB enclosure fitted, circuits reconnected and labelled.
4. Testing and CCEW. All circuits tested to AS/NZS 3000, safety switches trip-tested, and a Certificate of Compliance issued.
No spare spaces or an undersized main switch. Common in boards fitted before these loads became usual.
Often one faulty appliance or a damp circuit. See safety switch keeps tripping for safe checks.
Storms or network events can damage sensitive gear. A surge protection device reduces the risk but doesn't remove it.
A new board doesn't fix old wiring. We test circuits and tell you honestly if some need replacing.
It's a large, established manufacturer with a wide range. Other quality brands do the same job; we'll explain the options if you're undecided.
If there's space and the board is suitable, yes. Otherwise it can be included in a board upgrade.
It can, if planned with the right capacity and spaces. Talk to us before your solar or battery installer arrives.
Yes. Send the schedule and drawings and we'll quote to them, noting anything we'd change for practical reasons.
No. We're an independent licensed electrician (NSW 332956C) who installs ABB switchgear. Any product warranty is with the manufacturer.
