Uniview, often shortened to UNV, makes IP cameras and network recorders used in homes, offices and shops. We cable, mount and commission Uniview systems across the Inner West and greater Sydney.
Ring 0421 772 661 for a quote. A rough sketch of the property with the spots you want watched is a great starting point.
Uniview systems follow the familiar wired IP layout: cameras connected by network cable to a network video recorder, with Power over Ethernet supplying each camera from the recorder or a PoE switch. Footage records locally to the NVR's hard drive, and you view it on a monitor, in a web browser or through the phone app.
Uniview tends to be chosen by people who want a professional-style wired system and have often been recommended it by a security supplier. It's a good fit where you want several fixed cameras recording around the clock rather than a couple of battery cameras that wake on motion.
Blue Link Electrical works from Hurlstone Park. Installing CCTV in NSW requires a security licence, and we hold NSW Security Licence S00014414 together with Electrical Contractor Licence 332956C, so you deal with one licensed business for the whole job.
Uniview offers dome, turret, bullet and specialist cameras across different resolutions and lens options, plus recorders in various channel counts. Some recorders have PoE ports built in, others rely on a separate switch. When comparing, look at the recorder's channel count, its total PoE budget, and how many hard drives it can hold.
If you're adding to an older Uniview recorder, check that it supports the newer cameras and their video compression before buying. Firmware versions matter too. When in doubt, give us the model of the existing recorder and we'll check its documentation with you.
Each camera has its own network cable. Inside, we use roof and wall cavities; outside, conduit or protected routes so cable isn't exposed to sun and knocks.
The NVR and PoE switch need a reliable power point. A small UPS or surge protection helps keep recording through brief power dips.
Cameras need fixings that won't sag or vibrate. On brick we use masonry anchors; on weatherboard or fascia we find solid timber behind.
For the app to work away from home, the recorder needs a cable to the router. If they're far apart, we can run data cabling between them.
We set fields of view to your own property. NSW has laws covering surveillance, so cameras shouldn't be aimed into neighbours' homes or yards.
First we visit or review photos, decide camera positions with you and confirm where the recorder will live. You then get a written quote that sets out camera numbers, cable runs and inclusions.
On install day we run and terminate the cables, mount the cameras, seal every penetration and connect everything to the recorder or PoE switch.
We then configure recording, motion or smart detection zones, set strong passwords, update firmware where appropriate, and connect the EZView app on your phone so you can watch live or search footage.
Before we leave, every camera is checked for angle, focus and night image, and we show you how to export a clip. If any part of the job needs mains wiring, such as a new power point for the recorder, it's tested and certified as required.
Flickering or dropping streams usually point to a marginal cable or connector, or to a recorder or switch reaching its PoE limit.
Can be a PoE power shortfall, especially at night when infrared lights draw more. Checking the power budget usually reveals it.
Typically the router was replaced or the app login changed. It's a network issue, not wiring, but we can help reconnect it.
Recorder drives wear out over time. The NVR will usually warn you; replacing the drive restores recording.
Yes. UNV is the short brand name used on many Uniview products.
Some models also accept a separate DC power supply, but PoE is the usual approach because one cable does both jobs. Check the camera's datasheet.
Often via the ONVIF standard, though some features may not carry over. A single-brand system is simpler to manage.
We look at alternatives such as underfloor runs, external conduit or routing along existing service paths. It affects the quote, so we check before pricing.
