Siemens iQ ovens are often bought together with a Siemens induction cooktop, which makes the combined load the first thing to get right. We work out the circuits, install the isolation and connect and test the oven.

Siemens is a German brand made by the same group as Bosch and Neff. Its ovens are sold under the iQ naming, with higher iQ tiers adding features like pyrolytic cleaning, steam functions and sensor-based cooking. Many models can connect to the Home Connect app for remote monitoring and control over your home Wi-Fi.
The question we get most often is whether the new oven and cooktop can run off the existing cooking circuit. In many older kitchens, one circuit fed both an older oven and a solid-element or gas cooktop. A modern induction cooktop and pyrolytic oven together can draw more than that circuit was designed for, so we assess them as a pair.
Blue Link Electrical is a licensed electrician based in Hurlstone Park (NSW Contractor Licence 332956C), installing across the Inner West and Sydney. We install and connect the Siemens appliances you've purchased; we don't sell them and aren't a Siemens service agent. Faults inside the appliance are handled by the manufacturer.
Under AS/NZS 3000, a single circuit can supply both an oven and a cooktop when it is sized appropriately for the combined demand. Whether that's sensible in your kitchen depends on the two ratings, the cable that's already in the wall, the length of the run and what protection is at the board. Sometimes it's simplest to keep a shared circuit and upsize it; sometimes giving the oven its own circuit is cleaner.
Home Connect features run over Wi-Fi, so the oven needs a reasonable signal where it's installed. That's a network question rather than an electrical one, but a steel-and-stone kitchen at the back of a terrace can be a Wi-Fi dead spot. Check our Wi-Fi dead spots guide if the app keeps dropping out.
We look at oven and cooktop ratings together and design one or two circuits to suit.
Some Siemens ovens arrive with a plug, others need a hard-wired connection. The installation manual decides it.
A switch reachable with the oven in place, in an adjacent cupboard or on the wall, clear of the cooktop.
Correctly rated breakers and RCD protection. Older boards may need upgrading to take new circuits.
Optional, and only needed if you want Home Connect. The oven cooks normally without it.
1. Check both appliances. We review the oven and cooktop manuals and rating plates, the existing cooking circuit and the switchboard.
2. Circuit work. We upsize the cooking circuit or add a second one, fit protection and install isolating switches in accessible spots.
3. Connect. The oven is connected to Siemens' instructions and fixed into the cabinet, with the lead routed clear of hot surfaces. The cooktop is connected on its own terminals or circuit as planned.
4. Test and certify. We test to AS/NZS 3000, run oven and cooktop together under load, and issue a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work where new wiring is installed.
The shared circuit isn't sized for both at full power. Upsizing or splitting the circuit fixes it.
Can be the wiring, moisture or an appliance fault. See oven tripping the safety switch.
Usually Wi-Fi coverage or app setup, not the electrical connection. The oven still works manually.
Check the isolator and switchboard first. Our oven no power guide has the safe checks.
Possibly, if the circuit is sized for their combined demand. Often it's better to give each its own. We decide from the rating plates and your existing wiring.
No. Wi-Fi is only for Home Connect app features. The oven works fully without it.
Not always. Older circuits were often sized for lighter appliances. We check the cable and breaker before connecting.
Yes. We install and wire them; warranty and repairs go through Siemens.
