Akuvox makes SIP-based video intercoms with touchscreen indoor monitors, used in both houses and apartment buildings. We install Akuvox door stations, monitors and the cabling and door hardware around them.

Akuvox intercoms are IP-based and use the SIP standard for calls. In practice that means the door station and indoor monitors talk over a data network, and calls can usually be answered on compatible phones or apps as well. Many Akuvox indoor monitors are touchscreen units that look more like a small tablet on the wall.
For a house, an Akuvox system gives a proper wall-mounted video monitor inside rather than relying only on your phone. For a small block or townhouse complex, a multi-button or keypad door station can call each residence and release the common entry.
Blue Link Electrical is a licensed electrician based in Hurlstone Park, holding NSW Electrical Contractor Licence 332956C and NSW Security Licence S00014414 for security work including intercoms. We install Akuvox systems across the Inner West and Sydney.
Akuvox door stations range from single-button units for a house through to larger panels with keypads, card readers and resident directories. Indoor monitors vary in screen size and features. Choose the door station by how many residences it calls and how people will get in; choose monitors by where they'll mount and how much you'll actually use the screen.
Being SIP-based gives flexibility, but it also means configuration matters. Each device needs a network address and settings that let it find the others, and app or cloud features need an internet connection and account setup. We set this up and document it so it isn't a mystery later.
A network cable from the door station to a switch, which normally carries power too via PoE.
Each indoor monitor needs a data cable and either PoE or a local power supply. Kitchens and hallways are popular spots.
Sized for the number of devices and their combined power draw, ideally on a power circuit that isn't switched off routinely.
An electric strike, magnetic lock or gate controller wired to the intercom relay, with its own power supply.
Brick piers, rendered walls and timber frames each need different fixing. Flush mounting needs a back box set into the wall.
Phone answering away from home relies on a stable internet connection and router settings.
1. Survey. We check the entry, cable routes, the network cupboard or router location and where monitors should go, then provide a written quote.
2. Cabling. Data cable runs to the door station and each monitor; we add power for the door release hardware and, if needed, a power point for the network switch.
3. Install and configure. Devices are mounted, given network settings and linked, then door release timing, call groups and app access are configured.
4. Test and hand over. We test calls from the door to each monitor and phone, door release and relock, and video at different times of day. Our intercom guide covers the options in more depth.
Commonly loss of PoE power or a network fault, sometimes a cable damaged during other work. See intercom no power.
Router changes, phone battery optimisation or account issues are typical causes. The local monitor often still works.
The door is binding on the strike, or the strike's power supply is undersized. Adjusting the door or strike fixes it.
A door station facing the afternoon sun or a bright street. A hood or slight repositioning helps.
Many Akuvox setups support answering calls on a phone through an app or SIP. It depends on the model and configuration.
Not always, but a wall monitor is quicker to answer and works even if your phone is flat or the internet is down.
Yes, multi-button and keypad door stations can call multiple residences. That suits duplexes, townhouses and small blocks.
Usually PoE over the data cable. Door release hardware needs its own power supply.
