Usually, yes. A renovation adds circuits, and an old board often has no room for them or no safety switch on the lights. Doing the board first means the new rooms are protected from day one.
It depends on your existing supply. We work out the combined load, then advise whether a sub-board is enough or the supply needs upgrading.
We run a properly sized cable underground or along a protected route, add a small sub-board in the shed and test it before handing over.
