Fisher & Paykel ovens range from built-in wall ovens to large freestanding ranges in induction, electric and dual-fuel versions. Each needs a different electrical setup, and we make sure yours is right for the model you've chosen.
Ring 0421 772 661 for a written quote. If you're swapping gas cooking for an induction range, let us know: that's the change that most often needs a bigger circuit.
Fisher & Paykel began in New Zealand and is now part of the Haier group. In Australian kitchens you'll see its built-in ovens (single, double and combination models), its freestanding ranges, and its integrated kitchen packages where the oven, cooktop and other appliances are designed to work together visually.
A lot of the calls we get about Fisher & Paykel are from people going electric. A gas cooktop plus a modest electric oven doesn't draw much power; an induction range or a separate induction cooktop and pyrolytic oven can draw a great deal more. Whether your existing wiring can take that depends on the cable, the breaker and the capacity of the switchboard and supply.
Blue Link Electrical is a licensed electrician based in Hurlstone Park (NSW Contractor Licence 332956C), covering the Inner West and Sydney. We install and wire the appliance you've bought; we don't supply Fisher & Paykel products and we aren't their service agent. Faults inside the appliance are a matter for the manufacturer's service network.
Built-in ovens go into a wall cabinet or under a bench. Double ovens and combination ovens put two cavities into one appliance, which usually means a higher rating and a hard-wired connection on a dedicated circuit. Single ovens vary: some are plug-in, some are hard-wired, so check the installation manual before the cabinetry is built.
Freestanding ranges come in widths that suit a standard cooker gap and wider professional-style kitchens. An induction range is one large electrical load combining the cooktop and oven. A dual-fuel range uses gas for the burners and electricity for the oven, so its electrical demand is lower, but the gas connection must be done by a licensed gasfitter. Our induction wiring guide explains why induction changes the circuit.
Before switching from gas to an induction range, we check the main supply and switchboard can carry the extra load alongside air conditioning, hot water and other big appliances.
Ranges and double ovens usually need a dedicated circuit with cable sized for the combined rating and the distance from the board.
An isolator you can get to without moving the range or opening a fixed panel, positioned clear of the cooking surface.
The cooking circuit should be RCD protected. Older boards may need a switchboard upgrade to add it.
Dual-fuel ranges, or capping off an old gas cooktop, is licensed gasfitting work and is arranged separately.
1. Load check. We read the rating plates, inspect the switchboard and existing cooking circuit, and work out whether the new setup fits the supply as it stands.
2. Circuit work. Where needed, we run a new dedicated circuit or upsize the existing one, fit protection at the board and install an accessible isolating switch.
3. Connect the appliance. We connect the oven or range to the installation instructions, route the lead so it isn't strained or near hot surfaces, and confirm the appliance is secured as the manual describes.
4. Test and certify. Testing to AS/NZS 3000 covers insulation, earthing, polarity and RCD operation. You receive a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work where new wiring is installed.
Cooktop and oven running together on a circuit that wasn't sized for both. Upgrading the circuit to suit the combined load fixes it.
Homes that cooked on gas often have only a light circuit to the oven position. An induction range needs a new dedicated circuit.
Can be moisture in an element or a wiring fault. We test to find which. See oven tripping the safety switch.
If supply is present but the controls don't respond, it's an appliance fault for Fisher & Paykel service.
Usually yes, but it often needs a new or larger circuit and a check of your switchboard and supply. A gasfitter caps the old gas line.
Usually. Two cavities in one appliance typically carry a higher rating. The rating plate and manual confirm what's required.
A licensed gasfitter. We handle the electrical connection for the oven and can coordinate with your gasfitter.
Yes. We install and wire it; warranty and internal repairs are with the manufacturer.
