Fisher & Paykel hoods are common in Australian kitchens, from integrated units hidden in cabinetry to statement canopies. We make sure the power is in the right place, safely protected and tested.

Fisher & Paykel started in New Zealand and is a familiar name in Australian kitchens. Its rangehood range includes wall canopies, island hoods, integrated hoods that fit inside an overhead cupboard, and downdraft models. Integrated hoods are especially popular in renovations where the cabinetry runs right across the cooktop wall and the hood should disappear.
From an electrician's point of view, integrated hoods change where the outlet goes. It needs to be inside the cupboard housing the hood, positioned so it isn't blocked by the motor or duct and can still be reached to unplug. That has to be worked out with the cabinetmaker, not guessed after.
Blue Link Electrical is a licensed electrician in Hurlstone Park (NSW Contractor Licence 332956C). We connect and test rangehoods across the Inner West and greater Sydney. We don't sell Fisher & Paykel products and aren't part of their service network; internal appliance faults go to the manufacturer.
Integrated hoods are built into a cupboard, with only the front strip or visor showing. The outlet goes in the upper part of that cupboard. Wall canopies hide the outlet inside the chimney cover, while island hoods need the supply brought down from the ceiling through the chimney. Downdrafts, where chosen, put the supply in the cabinet below the bench.
Fisher & Paykel kitchens often come as a set, with an induction cooktop and wall oven installed at the same time. The hood itself is a light load, but the cooktop and oven usually need their own circuits, so it's worth checking switchboard space for everything together rather than one appliance at a time.
For integrated hoods, placed in the cupboard so it clears the hood body and duct but can still be unplugged.
The general power circuit feeding it needs RCD protection.
If the cooktop and oven are new too, we check the board can take their circuits. Older fuse boards may need upgrading.
Done by your builder, cabinetmaker or ventilation installer. We work around the duct route.
A cable run in the ceiling and a junction or outlet hidden in the chimney.
1. Measure and mark. Using the installation manual and the cupboard drawings, we mark the outlet position inside the hood cupboard or chimney zone.
2. Wire it. We extend a power circuit or run a new one, fit the outlet or hard-wired connection with isolation, and check the safety switch coverage.
3. Test after fitting. Once the hood is in and ducted, we plug in or connect it, check fan speeds and lights, and test to AS/NZS 3000. New wiring comes with a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work.
4. All appliances together. If we're wiring the cooktop and oven too, we test each circuit separately. See our cooktop and oven job in Petersham and the rangehood job in Dulwich Hill.
If the integrated hood's body covers the outlet, it can't be unplugged. We move it higher or to the side of the cupboard.
If they share a circuit that's overloading, the breaker trips. Cooktops should be on their own circuit.
Check the switchboard for a tripped safety switch first. See rangehood not working.
If power reaches the hood and it still doesn't work, it's a manufacturer service matter.
Inside the cupboard housing the hood, placed so it isn't covered by the hood or duct. Your manual shows the clear zones.
Yes. We often do all three, each on the right circuit, and check the switchboard first.
Usually not. A rangehood is a small load and runs from a general power circuit with RCD protection.
No. You buy the hood; we install the electrical side and connect it.
