Miele hoods tend to go into carefully designed kitchens: flush ceiling extractors, island hoods, downdraft units and integrated models. The electrical work has to be planned early so nothing shows when the kitchen is finished.
Phone 0421 772 661 for a written quote. Plans or a photo of the kitchen and the model's installation manual help us price it accurately.
Miele is a German premium appliance brand, and its rangehood range covers wall-mounted chimney hoods, island hoods, integrated units, downdraft extractors and ceiling-mounted extractors. Several of those are designed to be nearly invisible, which puts more weight on rough-in: the power has to be in exactly the right place before plasterboard and cabinetry close it off.
Many Miele hoods support Con@ctivity on compatible models, where the cooktop tells the hood when to run. Depending on the model, that link works wirelessly between the appliances rather than through extra cabling, so it rarely changes our scope, but it's worth confirming in the manual early.
Blue Link Electrical is a licensed electrician based in Hurlstone Park, holding NSW Contractor Licence 332956C. We install and wire Miele hoods supplied by you or your builder across the Inner West and Sydney. We aren't affiliated with Miele, and faults inside the appliance are handled by Miele's service team.
A ceiling extractor sits flush in the ceiling above an island, so the supply, fixing and duct all live in the ceiling space. In single-storey Inner West homes there's usually roof-space access, but under a second storey or a concrete slab the route can be harder. We check access before you commit to that style. Downdraft units go the other way: the supply sits inside the island or base cabinet, which also has to fit the cooktop's circuit and the duct.
Chimney and island hoods are more forgiving, with the outlet hidden inside the chimney section. For any model, read the manual for the connection type, the minimum height above the cooktop and whether a separate isolator is called for, and share it with us before the cabinetmaker finalises drawings.
Ceiling extractors need a cable route and fixing in the ceiling; downdrafts need room in the cabinet below for the motor and connection.
You should be able to switch off the hood for servicing without dismantling cabinetry. We position the outlet or isolator accordingly.
The supply circuit must have a safety switch. Older boards may need an upgrade to add RCBOs.
Ducting is installed by your builder or ventilation installer. We agree positions so cable and duct don't clash.
If a new induction cooktop goes in at the same time, its dedicated circuit is planned alongside the hood supply.
1. Site check. We review the model, manual and kitchen plans, check the ceiling space or cabinet layout, and confirm what the switchboard can take if a new cooktop circuit is also needed.
2. Rough-in. Cable runs and outlet or isolator positions go in before plaster and cabinetry. For ceiling extractors we confirm the framing for fixing is in place.
3. Connect and commission. With the hood installed and ducted, we make the final connection, test every speed and the lighting, and test the circuit to AS/NZS 3000. You receive a CCEW for the new wiring.
4. Finish. We leave the hood isolated correctly and show you how to switch it off. Our Dulwich Hill rangehood job is a good example of hidden wiring.
Under a second storey, a ceiling extractor may need a plasterboard access hole or a different hood style. We flag this at quote stage.
Typically a pairing step in the appliance settings, not wiring. Miele support can help with setup.
We test the circuit and connection; if both are sound, the fault is inside the hood and goes to Miele service. See rangehood not working.
If the outlet was installed where it can't be reached, we relocate it so the hood can be isolated.
Yes, the electrical side. We run the supply through the ceiling and connect it; the fixing framing and ducting are coordinated with your builder.
Usually not. On compatible models it works between the appliances, but check your manual for the specific setup.
Usually not, as hoods are a light load. Check the manual. A new induction cooktop on the other hand normally does.
Before cabinetry and plaster, at rough-in. Moving power after the kitchen is finished costs more.
