Falmec makes design-led Italian rangehoods, including sculptural island hoods and ceiling-mounted models that are meant to be seen. The wiring has to be invisible, which means planning it before the ceiling and cabinetry go in.
Phone 0421 772 661 for a written quote. Plans, a kitchen photo and the hood's installation manual help us price it properly.
Falmec is an Italian rangehood specialist, and its range leans toward the architectural: island hoods that hang like light fittings, flush ceiling hoods, wall hoods with distinctive shapes, and built-in units for cabinetry. Some designs are chosen as the visual centrepiece of the kitchen.
With a statement hood, there's nowhere to hide a badly placed cable. Island and ceiling models take their power from the ceiling space, and the connection has to sit inside the hood's chimney or housing. Wall models hide it behind the cover. If the hood has a remote control or integrated lighting, those run from the same supply and don't normally need separate wiring, but check the manual for your model.
Blue Link Electrical is a licensed electrician based in Hurlstone Park (NSW Contractor Licence 332956C), installing rangehoods across the Inner West and Sydney. We are not a Falmec dealer or service agent. We do the electrical installation; appliance faults and warranty go through the supplier.
An island hood needs a supply point directly above its mounting position, plus fixing strong enough for the hood's weight. A ceiling-mounted hood needs that and a framed opening. In a single-storey house with roof access this is usually manageable even after the ceiling is up; under a second storey or a concrete slab, it's far easier to do at rough-in.
Some Falmec designs can be paired with a separately mounted motor to keep noise out of the room. Only plan for that if your chosen model and the installation manual call for it, because it adds a second location to wire and a duct run to coordinate with your builder.
For island and ceiling hoods, a cable and connection point exactly where the hood mounts, hidden inside its housing.
Your builder provides framing that can carry the hood. We coordinate positions with them.
The circuit must be RCD protected; older boards may need an upgrade.
Duct runs through ceilings and walls are done by a builder or ventilation installer.
Extra wiring to a motor location per the manual, with isolation for servicing.
1. Work from the drawings. We take the hood position from the kitchen plans and manual, then mark the supply point and agree framing with the builder.
2. Rough-in. We run the cable to the ceiling or wall position before plaster goes up, leaving a safe, labelled connection point.
3. Fit-off. Once the hood is hung and ducted, we connect it, check lighting, speeds and any remote, and test to AS/NZS 3000. A Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work covers the new wiring.
4. Kitchen lighting too. Designer hoods often go in with new pendants or LED strips. We can do those at the same time; see our kitchen lighting job in Dulwich Hill and rangehood installation in Dulwich Hill.
If the cable comes through the ceiling off-centre, it may not sit inside the hood housing. Fixing it after plastering means patching.
Check the remote's batteries and pairing first. If the hood has power and still doesn't respond, it's an appliance issue.
We test the circuit and connection; a sound circuit points to the appliance. See rangehood not working.
Ceiling hoods need a way to isolate them. We position isolation where it can be reached.
Often yes in single-storey homes with roof access. Under a second storey it may need ceiling patching, so earlier is better.
Usually not; check the manual. The supply does need RCD protection.
The builder provides the framing, and the hood is hung to the manual. We wire it and coordinate positions.
Yes. We often wire kitchen lighting in the same rough-in.
We're a licensed electrician (332956C) who installs and wires Falmec hoods. We're not affiliated with the brand.
