Legrand Arteor

Legrand Arteor Switches and power points installation.

Arteor usually arrives on a job by specification: an architect, builder or interior designer has picked it to suit a kitchen, bathroom or whole-house finish. The draw is the choice of styles, which lets switches and power points either blend into a wall or stand out as a feature.

Whatever the plate looks like, the parts behind it are standard electrical work: correct cable, sound terminations, a solid mount and proper protection at the switchboard. A beautiful plate on a crooked box or a loose connection is still a problem, so we put the same attention into the parts you won't see.

Blue Link Electrical is a licensed electrician based in Hurlstone Park, NSW Contractor Licence 332956C. We work with renovators, builders and homeowners on everything from a few feature switches to a full house.

Know your model

Working from a design schedule.

A good switch schedule lists each position, its function, the plate style and finish, and the mounting height. We review it against the room and the wiring before the walls are closed, because that's when problems cost the least to fix: a switch behind a door swing, a power point where the joinery will be, or a dimmer on a circuit with lights it can't drive.

Arteor fittings and plates are meant to be used together; combining them with parts from another range rarely fits well. Some designer finishes have long lead times, so order early and keep the rough-in to the schedule. If an item is unavailable, we'll suggest alternatives within the range and let you or your designer decide.

Before we install

What the installation needs.

!

Finalised schedule

Positions, functions and finishes settled before rough-in, so cables and boxes go in the right place.

!

Correct box depth

Check mechanism depth against the wall build, especially in renovated masonry walls.

!

Dimming plan

Each dimmer matched to its LED drivers or lamps. See the LED downlight buying guide.

!

Wet-area placement

Bathroom and kitchen positions must respect clearances from water sources under AS/NZS 3000.

!

Lead times

Allow for designer finishes to arrive before the fit-off date.

How it works

How we install it.

1. Review. We go through the schedule and plans with you or your designer and flag anything impractical.

2. Rough-in. During construction, cables and mounting boxes are installed to the agreed positions and heights.

3. Fit-off. Once painting is done, Arteor mechanisms and plates are fitted, aligned and checked for a clean finish.

4. Testing and CCEW. All new circuits tested to AS/NZS 3000, dimmers checked with the actual lights, and a Certificate of Compliance issued. See kitchen renovation electrical planning.

Common problems

Common Legrand Arteor problems.

!

Plates not lining up

Boxes set at different heights or out of plumb at rough-in. Getting it right early is the fix.

!

Finish arrives late

Designer finishes can hold up a handover. We can fit temporary plates in the meantime.

!

Switch behind a door

Plans don't always show door swings. We check this at rough-in.

!

Dimmers humming

Usually load compatibility. See dimmer switch buzzing.
