Martec makes bathroom exhaust fans and combination units that add heating and lighting. We install them in bathrooms, ensuites and laundries across the Inner West and Sydney.
Ring 0421 772 661 for a written quote. Tell us whether it's a plain exhaust fan or a combination unit with heat.
Martec's bathroom products range from a straightforward exhaust fan to combined heater, fan and light units. The electrical work scales with the product: a plain fan is a light job, while a unit with heating needs a circuit that can take the extra load and switching for each function.
A bathroom renovation is the ideal time to get this right. Before the ceiling goes up, cables can be run for separate switches, a duct can be run to an outside vent, and the circuit can be upgraded if the heater needs it.
Blue Link Electrical is a licensed electrician based in Hurlstone Park (NSW Contractor Licence 332956C). We install Martec bathroom units you've bought and wire them to the manufacturer's instructions. We're not a Martec agent; product warranty is through Martec. Martec also makes ceiling fans: see Martec ceiling fan installation.
If the room is warm enough and you just need steam gone, an exhaust fan sized for the room is enough. If the bathroom is cold in winter, a combination unit adds heat without a wall heater. Check the rating plate or manual for the heater's load and the number of switched functions; that tells us whether the existing circuit can supply it and how many switches the wall plate needs.
Ducting is the other big decision. Air ducted to an outside vent carries moisture away from the house. Air dumped into the roof space can condense in cooler months, particularly in roofs with insulation and sarking. For long showers, a run-on timer on the fan, where the model or a separate control allows it, helps clear the room after you leave.
A heater unit adds substantial load. We check the circuit and may run a dedicated one.
Combination units typically have separate switching for heat, fan and light.
Bathroom circuits must be RCD protected; older boards may need a safety switch added.
Heater units need the clearances from insulation and structure that the manual specifies.
Planned route to an eave, wall or roof vent.
1. Plan. We confirm the product, check the circuit and switchboard, the roof space and the duct route, and quote in writing.
2. Rough-in. Ideally during a renovation, we run the supply and switch cabling and set the opening between joists.
3. Fit-off. The Martec unit is mounted, connected and ducted, and the switch plate fitted.
4. Test. We test heat, fan, light and the safety switch, test to AS/NZS 3000, and issue a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work.
A fault in the unit or wiring, or moisture. See exhaust fan tripping the safety switch.
The circuit may be overloaded by the heater plus other loads. We check and, if needed, run a dedicated circuit.
Check the duct and vent. See bathroom exhaust fan not working.
Replacement parts or warranty for the unit go through the manufacturer.
It depends on the unit's load and what else is on the circuit. We check the rating and the existing circuit before installing.
Combination units usually have separate switches for heat, fan and light, often on one multi-switch plate.
That's the best time. We rough in the cabling and ducting before the ceiling is sheeted.
Usually. We check the ceiling opening size, the wiring and the circuit first.
