Sungrow inverters and batteries are on a lot of Sydney roofs and garage walls, and Sungrow's own EV charger is built to slot into that system. We install Sungrow chargers across the Inner West and Sydney.

Sungrow is a large Chinese manufacturer of solar inverters and home batteries, and it also makes AC EV chargers. The selling point is integration: paired with a compatible Sungrow inverter and meter, the charger can be monitored in the same Sungrow app as your solar and set to favour solar energy for charging.
In practice, that means the charger isn't an island. Besides the dedicated circuit, it needs a communication link to the rest of the Sungrow system, whether over your home network or a direct data connection, depending on the model and how Sungrow specifies it. If that link isn't right, the charger may still charge, but you lose the solar features you probably bought it for.
Blue Link Electrical is a licensed electrician based in Hurlstone Park (NSW Contractor Licence 332956C). We are not a Sungrow representative; we do the electrical installation and connect the charger as Sungrow's documentation describes.
Sungrow makes AC chargers in single-phase and three-phase versions. Before buying, check two things: that the version matches your supply, and that your specific inverter model is listed as compatible for the integrated solar features. Older Sungrow inverters may not support it, or may need a firmware update or extra meter.
Homes with a Sungrow battery raise a further question: whether you want the car to draw on the battery overnight or protect battery charge for the house. That's a settings choice in the Sungrow system rather than wiring, but it's worth thinking about before the install so we can set things up the way you intend.
A dedicated circuit and protection at the switchboard, sized for the charger version and cable length.
For integrated solar charging, the inverter and meter need to be on Sungrow's compatibility list.
Network or data cabling between charger and inverter or meter, as specified for your model.
Solar, battery and EV circuits together can crowd a board. See our solar and battery ready switchboard checklist.
The protection type follows Sungrow's installation manual and AS/NZS 3000.
1. Check the system. We confirm the charger version, your inverter model and meter, and the condition and capacity of the switchboard. Your quote states whether anything extra is needed for solar integration.
2. Wire the charger. We install the circuit and protection, run the cable, mount the charger and terminate it to Sungrow's instructions.
3. Connect it to the system. We set up the communication link to the inverter or meter, add the charger to the Sungrow app where your account allows, and set the current limit to suit the circuit.
4. Test and certify. Testing to AS/NZS 3000, a test charge and a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work.
Typically a network or pairing issue between the charger and the Sungrow system rather than a wiring fault.
Can be a compatibility or meter problem, a mode setting, or simply too little surplus at the time.
Needs testing to find whether it's the circuit, the protection or the charger or car. See EV charger tripping the breaker.
Usually a system setting. Your solar installer or Sungrow's support can confirm the right configuration.
It can charge a car without one, but the integrated solar features are designed for compatible Sungrow systems.
It depends on how the system is configured. Talk to us or your solar installer about the setting you want.
Usually, yes. We check inverter compatibility, the meter and switchboard space first.
Sungrow or the retailer you bought it from. We stand behind our installation work.
