ABB's Terra AC wallbox is built by one of the world's largest electrical engineering companies, and it shows up as often in workplace car parks as in home garages. We install Terra AC chargers across the Inner West and Sydney.
Call 0421 772 661 for a written quote. Let us know the exact Terra AC variant and whether it's for a house, apartment or business.
ABB is a Swiss-Swedish engineering group that makes everything from circuit breakers to large DC fast chargers. The Terra AC is its AC wallbox, the type you'd install at home or at a workplace for overnight or all-day charging. It's known for a plain, sturdy design and for supporting the open charging protocol OCPP, which lets it connect to third-party charging management software.
That OCPP support is the main reason businesses and strata committees look at the Terra AC. It means the charger isn't locked to one billing or management service, so a building can choose its own platform. For a single house it matters less, but it does keep options open if you later want smart tariff-based charging through a third-party app.
Blue Link Electrical is a licensed electrician based in Hurlstone Park (NSW Contractor Licence 332956C). We're independent of ABB. We install and wire the Terra AC, set it up on your network if needed, and certify the work.
The Terra AC comes in a number of variants: single-phase and three-phase, with a tethered cable or a socket for your own cable, and with different options for user authentication, connectivity and energy metering. The variant code on the box tells you which you have, and the installation manual lists the circuit it needs. Choose the phase version that matches your property; most Inner West homes are single-phase.
For workplaces and shared car parks, versions with RFID access and a built-in energy meter make it easier to track who used what. Some sites also use load management across several chargers so they share the available supply. ABB also makes DC fast chargers under the Terra name, but those are a very different, much larger installation and not what most homes need.
Each Terra AC needs its own circuit and protection, sized to the variant's current and the cable length.
Single-phase chargers on single-phase supply; three-phase versions only where three-phase is available, as in our three-phase switchboard job in Ashfield.
Residual current protection selected according to ABB's manual and AS/NZS 3000.
OCPP and app features need Wi-Fi, Ethernet or mobile data, depending on the variant. Car parks often need a data cable run.
We check the main supply before adding chargers, particularly for multiple units on one site.
Assess. We confirm the Terra AC variant, check the switchboard and supply, and plan the cable route. For business and strata sites we also discuss how many chargers you'll need over time.
Install. We fit the protection, run the cable, mount the wallbox and terminate it to ABB's installation instructions. If the charger needs a wired network connection, we run the data cable too.
Configure. The charger's current limit is set to suit the circuit, and we connect it to the app or to your chosen OCPP platform's details, which you or your platform provider supply.
Test and certify. Testing to AS/NZS 3000, a test charge, and a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work.
Usually network access or OCPP settings, not wiring. The platform provider and network details need to line up.
Cards must be registered on the charger or the management platform. This is a setup issue rather than an electrical one.
Possible wiring, protection or charger faults, or an issue with the car. See EV charger tripping the breaker.
Check the breaker and RCD first. See EV charger not working after a power outage.
Yes. It's used in homes as well as workplaces. Choose the single-phase version if your home has single-phase supply.
It's an open protocol that lets chargers talk to management software from different providers. Businesses and strata often want it; most households don't need it.
They can be set up with load management so total demand stays within the supply. We assess the site first.
No. You buy the charger and we install it. Product warranty is handled through ABB or your supplier.
