Asko

Asko Induction cooktop installation.

Asko is a Scandinavian appliance brand known for understated design and solid build. It's often chosen by people renovating with a specific look in mind, and its induction cooktops sit comfortably alongside its ovens and dishwashers.

From the electrician's side, an Asko induction cooktop is a hard-wired appliance that needs a circuit of its own. The installation manual tells us the supply it needs, which can vary between a compact model and a wider one with more zones. We size the cable and protection to that, and check that your switchboard and supply can carry it.

Blue Link Electrical is a licensed electrician based in Hurlstone Park. We install Asko appliances that you've bought, across the Inner West and greater Sydney. We aren't an Asko dealer or service agent, so warranty and appliance repairs go through Asko.

Know your model

Matching cooktop and oven.

Asko's induction cooktops come in different widths and layouts, and some models offer bridging between zones. The total rating differs by model, so the manual is our reference. If an Asko oven is going in at the same time, we look at both supplies together; in most modern kitchens each appliance gets its own circuit.

Scandinavian design often means flush or slimline installation into stone. The cut-out and any routing of the benchtop must be done precisely by your stonemason or cabinetmaker before we connect. Check the manual for the minimum benchtop thickness and under-bench clearances.

Before we install

What the installation needs.

!

Dedicated supply

A circuit and breaker sized from the Asko installation manual.

!

Oven circuit

A separate supply for the oven, as its own manual specifies.

!

Board and supply

Room for new RCBOs and enough capacity for cooking loads at peak time.

!

Isolation

A safe connection point so the cooktop can be isolated for service.

!

Gas made safe

On a gas swap, a licensed gasfitter caps the supply first.

How it works

How we install it.

We start with your plans or your current kitchen and the manuals for the Asko appliances. We check the switchboard and main supply, and if there's an issue we'll explain options before you commit.

During a renovation we rough in the cooktop and oven circuits before cabinets go in. For replacements we work around existing joinery, accessing via the ceiling or subfloor where possible.

Once the benchtop is installed and cut, we connect the Asko cooktop at its terminal block per the manual, seat it and confirm each zone heats.

We test everything to AS/NZS 3000 and provide a NSW Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work. See our cooktop and oven installation in Petersham for a similar kitchen job.

Common problems

Common Asko problems.

!

Supply limits in older homes

Many Inner West homes still have old boards that can't take a full electric kitchen.

!

Tripping

See induction cooktop tripping the safety switch for likely causes.

!

Shared circuit with oven

Older kitchens may share one circuit that's too small for modern loads.

!

Appliance faults

Once supply is confirmed, internal faults go to Asko's service network.

Questions

Asko Induction cooktop: common questions.

What circuit does an Asko induction cooktop need?

It depends on the model. The installation manual lists the supply needed, and we size the circuit to that.

Can I put an Asko oven under the cooktop?

Check both manuals: they specify approved combinations and ventilation. That's handled by your kitchen installer; we supply power to both.

Who cuts the benchtop?

Your stonemason or cabinetmaker. We connect once the cut-out is ready.

Will my cast iron pans work?

Yes, cast iron is magnetic and works well on induction. Lift rather than slide to protect the glass.

Are you licensed?

Yes, NSW Electrical Contractor Licence 332956C and fully insured.
