A Miele induction cooktop is usually the centrepiece of a considered kitchen, and it deserves wiring to match. We supply and run the dedicated circuit, connect the cooktop to Miele's instructions and test it thoroughly.

Miele is a German premium appliance maker, and its induction cooktops sit at the upper end of the market. Many people buying one are planning a full renovation, often moving away from gas at the same time. That combination of a big new load plus an older Inner West switchboard is where careful electrical planning pays off.
Electrically, a Miele induction hob is a fixed appliance on its own circuit. The rating plate and installation instructions tell us the current it draws and the supply options for its terminal block; we size the cable and protection from that, not from a rule of thumb.
We're Blue Link Electrical, a licensed electrician based in Hurlstone Park, working across the Inner West and Sydney. We install Miele appliances you've purchased; we don't sell them and we're not a Miele service partner, so anything inside the appliance goes to Miele's own technicians.
Miele's induction range covers different widths and layouts, including models with larger flexible zones where you can place cookware freely, and some that can communicate with a compatible Miele rangehood so the fan responds to what's happening on the cooktop. If you're planning that pairing, tell us early: the rangehood also needs power at the right spot, and it's far easier to run both while walls and cabinets are open.
Before ordering, check the cut-out size, the benchtop thickness the model allows and whether it can sit above your chosen oven. Miele's documentation is detailed on clearances and ventilation; those are matters for the cabinetmaker and kitchen installer. Our part is the supply, which we'll confirm against your exact model's manual.
Sized to the figures in the Miele installation instructions, with cable selected for the run length and installation method.
Room for new protection, and a supply that can handle the cooktop alongside the oven and other big loads.
New circuits get RCD protection, usually as an RCBO. See RCD vs RCBO.
If the rangehood is being replaced too, plan its power point or connection at the same time.
Existing gas lines must be disconnected and capped by a licensed gasfitter. That's not electrical work.
Planning. On a renovation we like to see the kitchen plan, the appliance list and the switchboard. That lets us work out whether the board needs upgrading and where each circuit should end up.
Rough-in. While the kitchen is stripped, we run the cooktop circuit, plus oven and rangehood supplies if needed, to the positions on the plan. Doing this before cabinets go in keeps cable runs neat and hidden.
Fit-off. After the benchtop is installed and cut, and any gas has been capped, we connect the Miele cooktop as its manual specifies and confirm every zone operates.
Testing and paperwork. Insulation resistance, earth continuity, polarity and RCD tests to AS/NZS 3000, then a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work.
An existing kitchen circuit may not meet what a larger Miele hob needs. We check before connecting rather than after something trips.
Usually a wiring fault, moisture or an appliance issue. Our guide to induction cooktops tripping the safety switch explains the causes.
Can be a tripped circuit or an isolation issue. If the supply checks out, it's a matter for Miele service. See induction cooktop has no power.
Common in Inner West homes and not suited to a modern kitchen. A board replacement often comes first.
It needs a dedicated circuit sized to the rating in its installation instructions. The exact size depends on the model, so we read it from the manual.
Sometimes the manufacturer allows a combined connection, but with high-power induction it's more common to give each its own circuit. We follow the manuals and your switchboard capacity.
Induction needs magnetic pans: cast iron, enamelled steel and most stainless steel marked as induction compatible. Pure aluminium and copper won't heat.
We can rough in the circuit early, but the final connection happens once the benchtop is cut and fitted.
