Bosch alarm panels have been fitted in Australian homes and small businesses for many years, so plenty of Inner West houses already have one in the cupboard. We install new Bosch systems and extend or tidy up existing ones.

A Bosch alarm is built around a control panel that sits in a metal enclosure, usually in a cupboard or garage. Detectors in each room report back to that panel, a keypad near the entry lets you arm and disarm it, and a siren and strobe outside make sure the neighbours notice when it goes off.
Bosch suits people who want a conventional, dependable alarm with hard-wired detectors and a keypad by the door, with the option of adding app control. Because the brand has been common for a long time, it's also a sensible choice when an older Bosch system is already partly wired through the house and you want to reuse those cable runs.
Blue Link Electrical is a licensed electrician based in Hurlstone Park, holding NSW Electrical Contractor Licence 332956C and NSW Security Licence S00014414, which covers alarm installation. We install Bosch systems across the Inner West and greater Sydney, and we can install a panel you've bought yourself.
Bosch's residential panels come in different sizes, mainly differing in how many zones (detectors) and areas they can handle and what communication options they support. A small apartment might only need a handful of zones; a two-storey house with a garage and granny flat needs more. Before you buy, count the doors and rooms you want protected and check the panel's zone capacity in its specifications, leaving room to grow.
Remote access and app control normally need an extra communication module or a network connection at the panel. If you're thinking about back-to-base monitoring, that's a service from a monitoring company, not something the panel does on its own; we can wire the panel and communicator so it's ready for whichever provider you choose.
The panel is powered from a transformer or plug pack on a nearby power point or a dedicated circuit, so it needs a sensible spot with power close by.
A sealed battery inside the enclosure keeps the alarm running through a blackout. It needs replacing every few years, which we can do at the same visit as other work.
Wired detectors are the most reliable where we can get cable into the ceiling. Wireless detectors suit rooms we can't easily reach, at the cost of batteries to change.
Usually beside the door you use most, at a comfortable height and out of direct sun, with a cable back to the panel.
Mounted high on the front of the house where it's visible and hard to reach, with the cable run inside the wall or ceiling.
If you want app control, the panel needs a network cable or a communicator. A data point near the panel makes this much easier; see data and NBN cabling.
1. Walk-through and quote. We look at the layout, the existing cabling (if any) and where you come and go, then quote a detector for each sensible entry point and room, with the panel, keypad and siren positions marked.
2. Cabling. In most Inner West houses we run cable through the ceiling and drop into walls, which keeps detectors neat. Where an old Bosch system is already wired, we test the existing cable before reusing it rather than assuming it's sound.
3. Panel, devices and programming. We mount the panel, connect the power supply and battery, fit the detectors, keypad and siren, then program zones, entry and exit delays and user codes to suit how your household actually uses the house.
4. Walk test and handover. We trigger every detector, test the siren and check the battery takes over when mains is removed. Then we show you how to arm, disarm and bypass a zone. Our home alarm buyer's guide covers the decisions in more detail.
Most often a low backup battery, a mains power loss or a communication fault the panel is flagging. See Bosch alarm beeping.
Usually a detector aimed at a heater, window or curtain, or a pet in range of a detector that isn't suited to pets. Repositioning or replacing the detector fixes it.
Can be a tripped circuit, a failed plug pack or a flat battery that couldn't carry the load. See alarm panel no power.
A damaged cable, a reed switch knocked out of line on a door, or a detector that has failed. We trace it with a meter rather than guessing.
Detailed troubleshooting:
Usually, as long as the panel has spare zones or can take an expansion. We'll check the panel model and how it's wired first.
No. Monitoring is a service from a monitoring company. We install and program the panel and can set up the communicator so it's ready to connect to the provider you choose.
It depends on the battery's age and how many devices the panel is powering. Batteries wear out over a few years, and a beeping keypad is often the first sign.
Many Bosch panels support app control with the right communication module and a network connection. Check what your panel supports before buying extras.
