Ness is an Australian alarm brand that's been widely used in Sydney homes for a long time. We install new Ness systems and add to, repair and reprogram existing ones across the Inner West.
Ring 0421 772 661 for a quote. Tell us roughly how many rooms and doors you want covered and whether there's an alarm there already.
A Ness system follows the classic layout: a control panel in a cupboard or garage, detectors and door contacts wired back to it, a keypad by the door and an external siren. It's familiar to a lot of Sydney households, which makes it easy to live with: most people pick up the arming routine in a day.
Ness suits houses and townhouses where you want a solid, conventional alarm, and it's a natural fit where a Ness panel is already installed and you just want more coverage, a second keypad or a fresh battery. Because the panels are common, parts and expansion options are generally easy to source.
We're Blue Link Electrical, a licensed electrician based in Hurlstone Park. We hold NSW Security Licence S00014414 for alarm installation and Electrical Contractor Licence 332956C, and work across the Inner West and wider Sydney.
Ness panels differ mostly in zone capacity, how many keypads they support and what communication options are available. A typical single-storey cottage might be well served by a smaller panel; a larger home, or one where you'd like the granny flat and garage alarmed separately, may need a panel that supports multiple areas. It's worth checking the specifications for expansion before you commit.
Ness also offers wireless detectors that work with a compatible receiver, which can help in rooms with plaster ceilings we can't easily get above, or in a rear extension with a flat roof. Mixing wired and wireless on one system is common and sensible: wired wherever it's practical, wireless where it isn't.
A transformer or plug pack feeds the panel, so it needs a power point or a dedicated supply nearby.
A sealed battery in the panel box covers blackouts. It's a consumable and needs periodic replacement.
Wired detectors rely on getting cable through the roof space. Low-pitched rear extensions may need wireless detectors instead.
Keypad near the most-used entry; siren and strobe high and visible on the street side.
If you have a dog or cat, we pick detectors and positions designed to reduce false alarms from pets.
App control or reporting needs a suitable communicator and a network or mobile connection at the panel.
1. Plan. We go through the house with you, deciding which doors and rooms need detection, whether you want a night mode that leaves bedrooms unarmed, and where the panel, keypad and siren should go. You get a written quote.
2. Install. Cables run through the ceiling and down inside walls, the panel and power supply are mounted, and detectors, door contacts, keypad and siren are fitted. Wireless devices are added where cabling isn't practical.
3. Program. We set up zones with clear names, entry and exit delays, user codes and any remote-access settings.
4. Test and hand over. Each detector is walk-tested, the siren and battery are checked, and you're shown how to arm, disarm, bypass and use night mode. More on planning is in our alarm buyer's guide.
Low battery, mains failure or a communication fault are the usual culprits. See Ness alarm beeping.
Often a flat detector battery or a device at the edge of the receiver's range. A battery swap or repositioning usually sorts it.
Something is showing open: a door left ajar, a misaligned reed switch or a detector fault. The keypad usually shows which zone.
Check for a tripped circuit first; then it's the power supply or battery. See alarm panel no power.
Detailed troubleshooting:
Yes, Ness panels can be set up so you can arm the perimeter or living areas while leaving bedrooms free to move around in. We program it to suit your layout.
Usually, if the panel supports another keypad and we can run a cable to the new spot. A back-door keypad is a common addition.
Wired where we can reach through the ceiling, as there are no batteries to replace. Wireless fills the gaps in hard-to-cable rooms.
We don't provide monitoring. We can set the panel up so a monitoring company of your choice can receive its signals.
