Haneco downlights are a common choice for practical, energy-efficient lighting in homes and small businesses. We install them across the Inner West and Sydney.

Haneco is an Australian lighting brand that makes LED downlights for both homes and commercial spaces, so you'll see their fittings in kitchens and hallways as well as in shops and offices. Many of their downlights are designed with straightforward installation in mind, and some offer selectable colour temperature.
The difference between a downlight that lasts and one that fails early usually comes down to installation. Drivers need air and a sensible location, insulation must match the fitting's rating, and dimming only works properly when the dimmer and driver suit each other. Those are the parts we focus on.
Blue Link Electrical is a licensed electrician based in Hurlstone Park (licence 332956C). We install Haneco downlights in houses, units and small commercial premises across the Inner West and wider Sydney.
Before ordering, look at three things on the product sheet: the cut-out diameter, whether the fitting may be covered by insulation, and whether it's dimmable. If you're upgrading an existing room, the cut-out matters most because a mismatch means either patching or enlarging holes. If you're building or renovating, the insulation rating matters, because modern ceilings are usually well insulated.
For colour, warm white suits living rooms and bedrooms, while natural or cool white is often preferred for kitchens, laundries and workspaces. A fitting with a selectable colour temperature lets you decide on the day. For commercial premises, think about glare and lighting levels for the work being done. Our LED downlight buying guide goes through these choices.
The cut-out in the manual decides the hole. Too big and the fitting won't grip; too small and it won't fit.
If the fitting isn't rated for insulation contact, insulation needs to be kept clear. We check the roof space while we're up there.
Drivers sit beside the fitting in the ceiling, clear of heat sources and reachable for future service.
Only dimmable fittings go on dimmers, and the dimmer needs to suit LED drivers to avoid flicker and buzz.
Shops and offices may need emergency lighting and different switching. We plan that as a separate part of the job.
1. Site check. We look at the ceiling type, roof access, existing switching and the board, then quote in writing.
2. Prepare the ceiling. Holes are marked and cut to Haneco's specified size, cable is run to each fitting and old halogen transformers come out.
3. Connect and set. We connect each driver, set the colour temperature where the fitting allows, fit the lights and install the switch or dimmer.
4. Test and handover. Testing to AS/NZS 3000 follows, with a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work where required. Read more about our downlight installation service.
A faint glow when switched off can come from switch type or wiring. We check the switching and fix the cause.
Overheated drivers can shut down. Usually insulation or a cramped ceiling cavity is to blame.
A damaged cable or water in a fitting can trip the RCD. See safety switch keeps tripping.
If the wiring tests fine and one fitting is dead, it's likely a product fault for the supplier's warranty.
Haneco makes fittings for both homes and commercial premises. Check the product sheet suits the space, and we'll plan the wiring and switching.
Only if the fitting is rated for insulation contact. The rating is on the product sheet and label, and we check it on install.
