Ocular sells EV chargers for homes and businesses in the Australian market, and we're often asked to wire them into houses and small commercial sites. We install Ocular chargers across the Inner West and Sydney.
Ring 0421 772 661 for a written quote. Send the model name from the box or listing, plus a photo of your switchboard.
Ocular presents itself as an Australian EV charging company, offering home chargers and commercial charging hardware with app-based control. For buyers, a locally focused brand can mean easier access to support and spare parts, but as with any charger, the quality of the electrical installation decides how well it performs day to day.
We'd rather not guess at specifications here. Ocular's range, like most brands', is updated regularly, and the details that matter for installation, such as supply type, current rating, protection requirements and network options, are listed in the installation manual for your exact model. We read that manual before quoting, and we install to it and to AS/NZS 3000.
Blue Link Electrical is a licensed electrician based in Hurlstone Park (NSW Contractor Licence 332956C). We're independent of Ocular. You choose the charger; we look after the supply check, circuit, mounting, testing and compliance certificate.
Whichever Ocular model you're considering, a few questions decide whether it suits your home. Is it single-phase or three-phase, and does that match your supply? Is the cable tethered, or do you supply your own? Does it offer solar or load management, and if so, what extra hardware does that need at the switchboard? And does it need Wi-Fi, a cabled connection or mobile data for its app features?
For businesses, add a couple more: how users are authorised, whether charging can be billed or tracked per user, and how several chargers share a limited supply. If you're unsure, send us the product page or manual and we'll explain what the installation will involve before you commit.
Most Inner West homes have single-phase supply. The charger version needs to match it.
A new circuit from the board, sized to the charger's rating and the cable route.
Space for protection and a board that's safe to add to. Older boards may need a switchboard upgrade.
Breaker rating and RCD type chosen to match the model's installation manual and AS/NZS 3000.
If the charger's features rely on the app, the garage or car park needs reliable connectivity.
For multiple chargers, a supply assessment and load sharing plan come first.
Send us the model and a few photos and we'll quote. If the switchboard, supply or cable route looks complicated, we'll arrange a site visit before confirming the price.
We install the protection at the switchboard, run the cable to the charging position, fix the charger to a solid surface and connect it as the manufacturer's manual specifies.
Then we set the charger's current limit to match the circuit, get it online if it uses an app, and run a test charge with your vehicle.
Finally, we complete AS/NZS 3000 testing and issue a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work. For multi-unit buildings, our guide to EV charging in NSW strata explains the approval side.
Check the breaker and safety switch. If they're on and it's still dead, it needs testing. See EV charger not working after a power outage.
Points to a circuit, protection or appliance issue. See EV charger tripping the breaker.
Usually Wi-Fi coverage or router changes rather than an electrical fault.
If the supply and circuit test fine, internal faults go to the manufacturer under warranty. We can provide test results to support the claim.
Yes. Send us the model details and we'll quote the installation.
Not always. Boards with ceramic fuses or no spare space usually do. We check before quoting.
Only if your property already has three-phase supply and your car can accept three-phase AC charging. Most homes charge fine on single-phase overnight.
Product warranty is through Ocular or your retailer. Our installation workmanship is our responsibility.
