Wallbox makes some of the smallest home chargers around, and their Pulsar range is a common pick for garages and carports where wall space is tight. We install Wallbox chargers in homes and small businesses across the Inner West and Sydney.

Wallbox is a Spanish company that designs home and commercial EV chargers. Its compact home chargers are controlled from a phone app over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, so you can schedule charging for cheaper off-peak hours, lock the charger, and see how much energy each session used.
Physically, a Wallbox install is like any fixed charger: a dedicated circuit, the right protection at the switchboard and a solid mounting point. Where Wallbox gets more involved is its optional load management and solar features. These rely on an energy meter at the switchboard that tells the charger what the rest of the house is drawing, and that meter has to be wired and configured correctly for the features to work.
Blue Link Electrical is a licensed electrician based in Hurlstone Park (NSW Contractor Licence 332956C). We aren't a Wallbox dealer; we install chargers our customers have chosen, and we'll give you straight advice on whether the extra features are worth it for your home.
The Pulsar family is Wallbox's compact home range, usually chosen for houses and townhouses. The Commander range adds a touchscreen and user access control, which suits shared garages, small offices and some strata buildings where more than one person charges. Both come in different versions for single-phase and three-phase supply, and with different cable options, so confirm the exact variant against your property before you buy.
If you want the charger to avoid overloading your supply, or to follow your solar output, ask whether your version supports Wallbox's load management and solar features and which meter it needs. Adding the meter at install time is far simpler than retrofitting it later, especially when the switchboard is crowded.
Sized to the current you'll charge at and the cable length. Long runs from a front switchboard to a rear lane garage need heavier cable.
A breaker and an RCD of the type the Wallbox manual calls for. Full or ageing boards may need upgrading first.
Needed for dynamic load management or solar charging. It sits at the switchboard and is linked to the charger as Wallbox specifies.
The app works over Bluetooth nearby and Wi-Fi remotely. Detached garages often need a Wi-Fi extender or data cable.
Close enough for the cable to reach the car's port without stretching, and placed so the car won't clip it when parking.
We start by checking your switchboard, main supply and parking area, then confirm which Wallbox model and phase arrangement you have. The written quote spells out the cable route and whether any switchboard work is needed.
On the day we fit the circuit protection, run the cable, mount the charger and terminate it to Wallbox's installation instructions. If you've opted for load management or solar charging, we install and wire the energy meter at the board and link it to the charger.
Next we set the charger's maximum current to suit the circuit, pair it with the Wallbox app on your phone, and do a test charge with your car. We'll walk you through scheduling and locking.
Finally, the circuit is tested to AS/NZS 3000 and you get a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work. Read our guide on what a CCEW is if you're curious.
Can be a locked charger in the app, a scheduled start time, a tripped circuit or a fault. See Wallbox not charging.
Usually the meter's wiring or configuration. If the charger can't read the meter, it won't adjust its current.
Typically Wi-Fi range or a changed router password. Charging normally still works without the app.
Could be wiring damage, moisture in an outdoor run, the wrong RCD type or a car-side fault. It needs proper testing, not repeated resetting.
Detailed troubleshooting:
Yes, there are single-phase versions, and that's what most Inner West homes need. Just make sure you buy the variant that matches your supply.
Not for basic charging. It's worth it if your supply is tight, if you charge while running big appliances, or if you want solar-aware charging.
Wallbox chargers are designed for outdoor use within their rated conditions. We still mount them to avoid direct knocks and use suitable outdoor cabling.
Yes. We install and wire it; any product warranty claim goes through Wallbox or the retailer.
It depends mostly on cable length and switchboard condition. We give a written quote first. Our cost guide explains the factors.
